Leonardo DiCaprio might want to make room for another Oscar. Before the Flood, DiCaprio and Fisher Stevens' expansive climate change documentary, will be honored with a major award at the forthcoming Hollywood Film Awards. As announced by the Hollywood Reporter Wednesday, DiCaprio and Stevens are set to bag the Hollywood Documentary Award at Sunday's ceremony. Notice how many times the word "Hollywood" popped up in this paragraph? Amazing.

Last year's honoree, Asif Kapadia, promptly parlayed his HFA victory into a well-earned Academy Award with the critically acclaimed Amy Winehouse documentary Amy. The timing for a similar wave of honors for Before the Flood is spot-on, as climate change is a more pressing issue than ever before. As the film explains, the time to act is now. Bagging a bunch of awards, of course, would boost the public's awareness of both the film and the call to action at its core.

In a rare move, DiCaprio and Stevens partnered with National Geographic last month to make the film available entirely for free via YouTube and other platforms. As part of the release strategy, 21st Century Fox and National Geographic have pledged to donate $1 each to Pristine Seas and the Wildlife Conservation Society every time someone uses the #BeforeTheFlood hashtag on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. At the time of publication, the film had garnered just under 8 million YouTube views.
