Hopefully you peeped Leonardo DiCaprio's climate change documentary Before the Flood for free last month. Hell, hopefully you peeped it multiple times before sharing it with your loved ones. The film, which has already earned DiCaprio and director Fisher Stevens the Hollywood Documentary Award, has now paved the way for the longstanding Wolf Pack leader's next documentary venture: a History channel docuseries about pioneers.

History has said yes to an eight-part docuseries to be executive produced by DiCaprio, Varietyreported Monday. The series, tentatively titled Frontiersmen, spans from the post-revolutionary war colonies to the California Gold Rush. Daniel Boone, Lewis and Clark, Davy Crockett, Tecumseh, and other pioneers will be featured to highlight "a formative period in U.S. history" that shaped the country we know today.

Paul Cabana, EVP and head of programming at History, is just as stoked as you. "During these years, America went from the opportunity of land to the land of opportunity and it was a bloody struggle throughout," Cabana toldVariety. "From Crockett to Boone, we'll tell the bold stories of these adventurous trailblazers who explored the uncharted wilderness and became the icons we know today."

If your hardened cynicism is pushing you to view this announcement with profound skepticism, just remember this: DiCaprio's Before the Flood was pretty damn good. Seriously. Peep it if you haven't. Also, this is the History channel we're talking about, a.k.a. the channel you watch when too high to question why the hell you or your parents are paying for cable anyway. No pressure.
