Just about a week after leaving Deadpool 2 following reported clashes with star Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool director Tim Miller has reportedly found his latest project, and it's fast and blue.
The Hollywood Reporter said Monday that Miller has signed on for a film adaptation of the ever-popular video game character Sonic the Hedgehog. The project will, per THR, be a "hybrid CG-animated/live-action family film." Miller will be an executive producer on movie, but will not be directing. That honor will go to his business partner in Blur Studios, Jeff Fowler. Miller has no shortage of confidence in his pal.
"Jeff is an incredible director with strong story instincts," Miller told THR. "The world of Sonic presents the perfect opportunity for him to leverage his experience in animation to bring new dimension to this iconic character."
The movie will be penned by Patrick Casey and Josh Miller, creators of the animated TV series Golan the Insatiable.
Sonic, for those who are either too old or too young to remember ’90s video games, is a blue hedgehog whose chill is constantly interrupted by the evil Doctor Eggman. Over 350 million Sonic games have been sold since the first game was released in 1991. The character has moved beyond video game world into cartoons and comics, and now movies.
No director has yet been announced for Deadpool 2. Many fans, however, think it would be a great project for Quentin Tarantino, and have started a petition to get the Pulp Fiction director on board.
