As more details have emerged regarding the terrifying armed robbery of Kim Kardashian in Paris, some have started to question how the unidentified attackers pulled off such a high-dollar theft. According to a report from Page Six, French police now have "serious questions" about how Kardashian was able to be robbed at gunpoint, reportedly suspecting it may have been an inside job involving members of her security detail and workers at the hotel.
"French police suspect that the five alleged robbers had some contact with her security and were tipped off about her procedures," a source toldPage Six Monday afternoon. According to the source, the attackers knew exactly when Kardashian would be alone without security. "All they had to do was go in, make contact with someone inside the hotel," the source explained. "They have issues with [the] story of more than one worker at the hotel. They are also talking to bodyguards who worked with her earlier in the week."
In fact, the source claims that "one or more" of the armed robbers "could have been" bodyguards who previously worked with Kardashian in Paris. Portions of the robbery are believed to have been caught on the hotel's surveillance footage, with Page Sixreporting that local authorities are currently reviewing the videos alongside phone records to get a better idea of what happened.
When two of the five armed men made their way into Kardashian's apartment, they reportedly "gagged and bound" her at her hands and feet before holding her at gunpoint and making off with as much as $10 million in jewelry. "She begged for them to let her live and [said] she has babies at home," a source toldE! News Monday. "Then they wrapped her mouth in tape and put her in the bathtub. She thought they were for sure going to kill her."
Kardashian returned to New York City Monday afternoon, greeted by what TMZ described as "presidential" levels of security. Neither Kardashian or Kanye West, who cut his Meadows Festival set short Sunday night upon hearing news of the robbery, have spoken publicly about the incident. The suspects remain at large.
