Justice League, the next surely divisive slice of DC cinema from Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder, has been hella generous with the peeks and teases ahead of its 2017 release. For the latest glimpse at Snyder's allegedly more fun movie, IGN has unveiled the first proper look at Amber Heard as Mera, queen of the sea:

Mera is believed to be taking a supporting role status in Snyder's Justice League but will garner much more screen time in James Wan's forthcoming Aquaman movie alongside Jason Momoa as the title character and Willem Dafoe as acquatic academic Nuidis Vulko. Heard, who will next be seen in the Lake Bell comedy What's the Point, spoke briefly on the modern vision behind this take on Mera to Entertainment Tonight back in March. "It's interesting," Heard said. "It's like, half suit of armor, half scales. It's strange. We're in the process of building it now. It's coming along."

Still kinda worried about this movie? Maybe don't be. Justice League's expected lightness in tone will have less to do with the reception to Batman v Superman, Snyder says, and more to do with the inherent playfulness of the source material. "I mean, not to give anything away or say anything that would be too telling of where we're headed with the movie, but death is darker than, say, resurrection or team-building," Snyder, the same dude behind the equally divisive Watchmen adaptation, toldCollider back in June. "It’s just a darker concept, like when you're dealing with Dark Knight Returns or Death of Superman, those kinds of ideas. As opposed to, 'Oh, let's build a team and fight the bad guy!' It's a different energy."

See that energy in action when Justice League hits theaters Nov. 17, 2017.
