Eddie Murphy is set to bag a major award at next month's Hollywood Film Awards, joining previous honorees and/or gods of film like Robert De Niro and Harrison Ford. Murphy will receive the Hollywood Career Achievement Award at the 20th edition of the awards ceremony, Dick Clark Productions announced Monday.

"Eddie Murphy has had a spectacular career as a comedian, actor, writer, producer, and director, spanning more than 35 years," Allen Shapiro, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, said in a press release. "We look forward to honoring his extraordinary body of work." This year's ceremony takes place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills Nov. 6. James Corden, a guy most known for singing karaoke with various celebrities while safely operating an automobile, will host:

Murphy made his long-awaited return to the big screen in last month's Mr. Church, starring alongside Britt Robertson and Xavier Samuel. The film marks a dramatic turn for the celebrated comedian, whose previous work on Saturday Night Live and in classic franchises like Beverly Hills Cop and 48 Hrs made him one of the biggest names in the game.

Murphy copped another prestigious award last year, taking home the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. However, don't expect some sort of return to throwback-style comedy in the near future. Murphy simply isn't feeling that kind of work right now. "My stuff is on TV all the time for anyone checking for it," Murphy toldVariety at the Mr. Church premiere last month. "When do they think they will hear me say something funny [in the future]? I don't know because from here, I'm going back to the backyard to chill." Same.
