NextGen Climate wrangled a visibly agitated Aziz Ansari into making a short video directed at undecided voters in the presidential election—we're looking at you, Ken Bone—which it published on YouTube this week. The comedian took the opportunity to slam Republican nominee Donald Trump in the classiest way possible: by rejecting his platform without directly naming him, à la Michelle Obama.
Ansari, as no-nonsense as ever, took Trump to task over his treatment of minorities and stance on climate change (which is basically that the climate isn't changing).
"Hello, I'm Aziz Ansari. I'm here because apparently there's someone watching this video that's on the fence about voting, and they're going to see me telling them to vote, and then they're gonna be like, 'OK! I guess I'll vote," Ansari intones. "What the fuck do you need? How many celebrities have made these stupid fucking videos?"
He rattles them off: Robert Downy Jr., Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence.
"There's a fucking guy running who says he doesn't like brown people. He doesn't believe in climate change! That's not enough? Do you realize how dumb you have to be to not believe in climate change? At this point?" he screams. "Seriously, this video is going to make a difference? It's my lunch break right now! Go vote, please."
Some news that should comfort Ansari: from most measures, undecided voters tend to lean toward Clinton in a four-way matchup between her, Trump, Gary Johnson, and Jill Stein. This cycle, though, that bloc is also comprised of a sizeable number of Democrats and Republicans—party "swayables"—instead of solely Independents.
