Just days before the indie comedy Captain Dad is scheduled to begin shooting, star Will Ferrell has dropped out, according to The Hollywood Reporter

The movie was supposed to begin shooting on Sept. 26 in Colombia, and some members of the cast and crew are already there. No replacement for Ferrell has yet been announced.

This is not the first project Ferrell has abandoned recently. Back in April, he left a comedy about Ronald Reagan after the project received some negative press for supposedly being themed around the former President's dementia.

Captain Dad also stars Michael Cera and Catherine Keener, and is directed and written by Sebastián Silva, a Chilean filmmaker who has worked with Cera on two previous movies, Magic Magic and Crystal Fairy.

According to Deadline, the film is about a father (what was supposed to be Ferrell's role) who takes his wife (Keener), their six children, and their partners on an increasingly difficult and disastrous Caribbean vacation on a sailboat. In what sounds like a role tailor-made for the Anchorman star, the father is supposed to be "stubborn, competitive and overly confident in his sailing abilities."

While some sources close to the film are wondering if the whole thing will fall apart, a rep told THR that everyone involved is working rapidly to replace Ferrell and they hope to start production soon.
