Jim Carrey is being sued by the estranged husband of Cathriona White for allegedly providing "highly addictive" drugs to her after obtaining them under an alias. Mark Burton filed the wrongful death suit in Los Angeles Monday, the Wrapreported. Burton is seeking unspecified damages related to the 2015 death of White, which was officially ruled a suicide this July.

"On information and belief, Carrey wrongfully and illegally supplied, marketed, and distributed the Drugs to White on or about September 21, 2015, just days before her death," the lawsuit alleges. The suit specifically accuses Carrey of obtaining the drugs under the name Arthur King before passing them to White, asserting that her resulting death should have been "predictable and foreseeable" given her alleged history of depression and a previous suicide attempt.

The drugs in question, according to court documents obtained by the Wrap, included Percocet, Propranolol, and Ambien. All of those drugs were initially obtained under the Arthur King alias, the suit claims, while also taking issue with a text message Carrey sent to her surrounding the time of her death. "If Carrey legitimately believed White had taken the drugs from him and she had subsequently gone missing for two days with no contact, then why would Carrey not immediately ask law enforcement to check on her well-being after she did not return his text?" the lawsuit states.

Upon White's death last September, Carrey released a statement expressing sympathy for the family during their time of tragedy. "I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona," Carrey toldEntertainment Tonight. "She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her."
