As far as New York parties go, the real success hangs in the balance of a number of things like music, guests, venue, and how the elements choose to cooperate. Last Friday, all of those factors worked together seamlessly to kick off the 2016 edition of Team Epiphany and Complex’s #SUMMERFRIDAYS event series.
Here are the deets; New York City’s influencers, personalities, and other media/creative-adjacent individuals converged on Pier 40 in their trendiest summer whites, ready to set sail on the three-story hybrid yacht, the Hornblower. Avión tequila provided custom, boat-themed cocktails for guests to sip and DJ Wonder supplied the sunset soundtrack, powered by JBL. The unexpected hit came in the form of an onboard fruit stand, courtesy of FoodKick. Their mashup stonefruit (an aprium is a cross between an apricot and a plum) was the clutch player that allowed everyone to guiltlessly enjoy the circulating chicken quesadillas, caprese, and sliders.
In addition to the complimentary Avión tequila drinks, guests were treated to swag bags that included fresh socks from Mighty Healthy, premium Pintrill pins, and Jason Markk sneaker cleaner to keep those summer whites pristine. JBL was also on hand to give away some super dope speakers to VIPs
Truly a man that respects moments, Team Epiphany Founder/Managing Partner and cruise MC, Coltrane Curtis, took the mic to welcome guests on the voyage, and again to thank his co-conspirators (We got mad love for you too, Coltrane!). DJ Wonder closed out the event with an epic finale that included a final ’90s push “Tootsie Roll”?! (Yes!)
There’s no shortage of parties and “exclusive” events in NYC, but it can be hard AF to get the right combination of influential people together and committed to having a good time. This is especially true when it comes to executing an all-white yacht party. That said, celebratory props to Team Epiphany for knocking it out of the park with the kick off to another successful #SUMMERFRIDAYS trilogy.
Friday is the Pajama Party (not the creepy kind…think, House Party 2 Pajama Jam), and the following week is the super casual bowling/charity event because good karma breeds healthy skin! Ok, not really, but 2016 has been wild, to say the least, and we could all use some positive vibes. Do yourself a favor and party with us. Or don’t, and end up somewhere else wishing you had. Like most other weekends.
