Rupert Grint (aka Ron Weasley from Harry Potter) will be mixing it up with some of London’s most unscrupulous characters in the movie-to-TV adaptation of Snatch.

Sony Television will adapting Guy Ritchie’s much-loved East End gangster flick and have announced the ex-Harry Potter alumni as one of the stars. According to Deadline, Sony made the announcement during a presentation for their upcoming streaming service Crackle. The series will be an exclusive for Sony and will be based on Ritchie's 2000 film which starred Jason Statham, Brad Pitt, Benicio Del Toro and Stephen Graham. Although the original film was directed by Ritchie, he won’t be involved in the upcoming TV series.

However the series will maintain the original locations and establishments (such as Sol and Vinny’s diamond pawn shop and Brick Top’s illegal boxing venue), it will also introduce a batch of new characters. It’s been revealed that Grint will playing a character named Charlie Cavendish who is described as a "charming, if not frustrating conman". Grint will be joined Gossip Girl’s Ed Eastwick and Fear The Walking Dead’s Dougray Scott.

Production is set to begin in London next week and is expected to debut on Crackle for an unspecified date in 2017.

We'll be honest; Snatch was a classic, it had excellent cameo’s, memorable one-liners and a fun and original storyline. So we're very dubious about seeing Ron Weasley go from Wizard to East End Wide-boy. But it might work you never know.
