Nostalgia, you magnificent bastard. Nintendo is tapping the endless well of retro love again with the announcement of the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition, a miniature replica of the OG console that will connect directly to your presumably high-definition TV thanks to the magic of HDMI cables. Translation: humans now have yet another way of just completely avoiding reality, as reality simply isn't in a good place these days.

"We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo's original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place," Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, said in a press release. "The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is ideal for anyone who remembers playing the NES, or who wants to pass on those nostalgic memories to the next generation of gamers."

Nintendo is no stranger to the art of nostalgia, having practically taken over the entire planet with Pokémon Go. The augmented reality game, in addition to serving as a cheater-catching aid and an excellent stab wound distraction, has already helped the company bag billions upon billions of dollars in market value.

This latest feat of nostalgia is priced kindly at just $59.99, meaning your wallet will immediately forgive you of any temporary damage. The NES Classic Edition strategically hits shelves Nov. 11, so Xmas enthusiasts will have a full month to relentlessly text Santa some ALL CAPS demands. In addition to the required HDMI cable, an AC adapter, and one classic controller, the system comes preloaded with a ton of certified bangers.

Donkey Kong, Castlevania, Galaga, Metroid, Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros, and The Legend of Zelda (among many others) await you. As if that weren't enough, Nintendo is also reportedly planning to start making movies again.

Obviously this is a must-cop situation.
