Melbourne Artist Lush Doubles Down with Nude Melania Trump and Hillary Murals

Still wanna build that wall, Donald?

Only days after his ever-changing R.I.P Taylor Swift mural – which then became a R.I.P Harambe mural, then a R.I.P Haram-‘Ye mural – Melbourne artist Lush has once again laced a laneway with a coating of contemporary culture.

This time around, it’s not Kim, Kanye, Emily Ratajkowski or anyone quite so young adorning a Melbourne wall. Lush has taken to US politics, with a two-piece series of risque portraits, featuring the woman who could potentially become the First Lady, and of course the woman who could become the first lady President.

Hillary Clinton is pictured in a patriotic one-piece stars & stripes bikini, while Melania Trump is simply presented topless, with Hillary Clinton’s “I’m With Her” catchphrase above.

The pieces have polarised opinion on Instagram. While simple ‘lols’ have been registered by some, others are criticising the seemingly exploitative and unnecessary depictions of female political figures in the poses chosen. While the RIP Taylor mural was a funny look at recent events, this is literally just taking cultural figures and stripping them down.

The simple and exploitative nature of the murals is consistent with Lush’s overall body of work however, and social media comments are unlikely to slow him down.

Or hey, maybe the nudes of Donald Trump's wife were a reaction to that giant wall he wants to build.
