An American live-action remake of anime classic Akira has been in development hell for years — Christopher Nolan, Leonardo DiCaprio and Gary Oldman have all been involved at some point, and it looks like Justin Lin might be the next director to take a shot at getting it made.
Now some concept art for a previously unmade version has been released online, and it looks shockingly good. Filmmaker Ruairí Robinson was once in line to direct it, and posted these images on his website.
Yes, that is Chris Evans and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who were meant to star.
Testsuo’s name was going to ‘Travis’. Urgh.
It looks really faithful to the anime in design tho.
