Arnold Schwarzenegger Is Set to Star in a New Action-Comedy

This will be the directorial debut of Taran Killam from 'Saturday Night Live.'

Arnold Schwarzenegger is preparing to flex his funny muscles once again. The actor, who was last seen in 2015’s less-than-stellar reboot Terminator Genisys, has been tapped to star in the action comedy Why We’re Killing Gunther, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The story follows a rag-tag group of assassins who grow tired of fellow contracted killer Gunther, a man deemed the world’s greatest hitman. Fed up with his showboating ways, they decide to kill him but quickly realize that’s easier said than done.

The film marks the directorial debut of Saturday Night Live’s Taran Killam, who also wrote the script and is set to star. Joining him is fellow SNL cast member Bobby Moynihan, wife Cobie Smulders (Avengers, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Paul Brittain (Hotel Transylvania 2), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), Randall Park (The Interview) and Ryan Gaul (Identity Thief).

While additional details are scarce, this project is more likely to get off the ground than the Terminator sequel Schwarzenegger hinted at back in March. In case you don’t remember, the film was removed from Paramount’s release schedule after Genisys bombed at the box office.

He will next be seen starring opposite Maggie Gyllenhaal in the thriller, 478, a dramatization of the events in 2002 in which two planes collided over Germany killing everyone aboard both aircrafts. He will play a man inspired by Vitaly Kaloyev, who murdered the air traffic controller on duty out of revenge for the loss of his wife and kids. Heavy.
