Remember the big white guy who thought he was Michael Jackson? He was going to be Prince in the sequel.

With the tragic passing of Prince yesterday, everyone headed online and to YouTube to look up their favourite moments from the purple one’s extensive career. Amongst his appearances on New Girl and The Muppets, people also shared the several times he’d been referenced on The Simpsons. Obviously Prince was such a pop culture titan that he was going to be name-checked by The Simpsons a few times, but he never actually appeared on the show.

He did however come pretty close to lending his voice talents to it at one point though, and when you hear what the plot was going to be, you’ll realise what a tragedy it was that it never happened. Remember the episode ‘Stark Raving Dad’? That’s the one where Homer get’s put in a mental asylum and meets a big white guy called Leon Kompowsky, who thinks he’s Michael Jackson. The meta-joke of the episode what that of course, Kompowsky was actually voiced by the real Michael Jackson (due to contractual reasons, he’s credited under a fake name, but it really is MJ).
