Kid Cudi has long straddled the line between actor and musician, ultimately settling on the more fitting description of simply being an artist. Categorizations are boring, of course, and Paul Reubens (Pee-wee Herman) knows that just as well as Cudi. The two, who originally met when Cudi was filming HBO's How to Make It In America, joined for a fascinating chat on fame and collaboration via the Talkhouse's film podcast that also teases a potential Cudi x Reubens collab.

"I was definitely in a weird place in my life at that time," Cudi told Reubens, adding that he has been a lifelong fan of Pee-wee Herman. "Fame is a weird thing and I was adjusting. To see you brought me back to Scott in the midst of Kid Cudi, HBO, you know what was happening on How to Make it America. It brought me back to this kid. It was, like, pure in the moment. It's something I'll always remember."

Reubens, no stranger to the superstar life, agreed with Cudi's assessment of sudden fame as a confusing and challenging reality with which few other people can relate. "It's a weird time," Reubens added. "I felt the same way." The two fast friends may have a potential project to expand their complementary visions, as Cudi revealed during the interview that he's currently working on a pilot. "I'm actually going to send you this script I'm working on," he said of the work-in-progress. "I want you to tell me if it's crap or if it's good. I actually have a character for you already." According to Cudi, he's already written Reubens into the potential series as a mentor to his character.

Reubens, of course, has spent decades as the unofficial mentor for young creatives everywhere as Pee-wee Herman and recently revived the inspiration for Netflix:
