Jamie Foxx who was seen being a real life hero earlier this year when he saved a man from a burning car may save the day again, this time on screen. Foxx is in talks to star in The Happytime Murders—a R-rated dark comedy about puppets getting murdered—to be directed by the son of The Muppets creator Jim Henson reportsDeadline. Foxx recently flexed his comedy chops in Horrible Bosses 2, and in case you didn't know, Foxx's career started in comedy with sketch comedy show In Living Color.

Foxx will star as one of two police detectives on the case reportsio9citingDeadline which exclusively reported news of the negotiation.

The Happytime Murders is about the murders of none other than the huge stars of The Happytime Gang, a family TV show, reports io9. The wildly popular stars—who are puppets—are said to be the polar opposites of their on-screen personas according to io9, which explains the R-rated part. When the Happytime Gang starts to get picked off it's up to Foxx and his partner, with their own set of problems, to solve the case.

Deadline reports Foxx's character (a human) would be Los Angeles Police Department's Detective Edwards who reluctantly joins forces with ex-partner Phil. According toDeadline, Phil is a "drinker" and a womanizer which is why he doesn't gel with Edwards' straight-laced self.

The Happytime Murders will be directed by Brian Henson for the Jim Henson Company.
