Rad Feminist Daniel Radcliffe Says There’s No Justification for the Gender Wage Gap

Where is the lie?

Audiences weren’t too keen on Daniel Radcliffe playing a farting corpse in the heavily-panned Swiss Army Man (people literally walked out), but he’s steeping back into their good graces with his latest interview. The Victor Frankenstein star has been pretty open about his views on feminism, but now he’s tackling one of its biggest issues—the gender wage gap.

For the actor, who said "there is no earthly justification for that pay not being equal," the wage gap makes no sense. "It is nuts to me," he told the Daily Telegraph Australia.  "I’m incredibly glad it has come up because I had just f**king naively thought this was not an issue any more because how can this still be happening?"

Well, it’s easy to be unaware when it’s not happening to you. Thanks to the likes of Jennifer Lawrence and Patricia Arquette speaking out, however, more and more Hollywood men are taking notice. Radcliffe is one of them.

"What I found shocking about the whole American Hustle thing," he added, referring to the outrage sparked when details of Amy Adams and Lawrence being paid much lower than their male costars leaked. "That, to me, is shocking…stuff like that is crazy and the thing I can’t help but think is 'Who? Who’s doing that? What guy is sitting in a studio somewhere thinking let’s f**k the girls out of some money'?"

The fallout from the scandal has led to more actresses speaking out, as well as stars like Bradley Coopersharing salary info with his female counterparts. Just don’t call on Jeremy Renner because…yeah. At least Daniel Radcliffe is excited about this movement shaking things up in Hollywood.

"It’s very cool and I feel like there’s such a wealth of amazing actresses in the world right now and we’ve got to start writing better parts for them and paying them equally."

Agreed.
