While the critics are absolutely brutalizing Batman v Superman since getting their first look at the long-awaited superhero movie earlier this week, one of a few things that Zack Snyder's bid-budget film did get right was its introduction of Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman, to the DC Comics movie universe. It also made it clear that Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot, isn't going to be just a token in that universe, but a very big part of it.

That means that excitement for the standalone Wonder Woman film, which DC has offered up only the slightest peak at, is going to be very high after Batman v Superman hits wide release on Friday, even though Gadot apparently doesn't get a ton of screen time. Capitalizing on this excitement, EW is offering up the first look at some of the characters who will populate Wonder Woman's homeland of Themyscira.

As their video explains, the three women who appear in that first photo are Connie Nielsen as Wonder Woman's mother Queen Hippolyta, her aunt, General Antiope, played by Robin Wright, and her Antiope's lieutenant, Menalippe, played by Lisa Loven Kongsli. According to the video, "the trio of warrior women are responsible for both raising and training Diana, but they don't always agree."

And if you're concerned about the fact that Themyscira might be only populated by white woman, as Bleeding Cool reports that some fans were when they saw the first photo, director Patty Jenkins had this to say.

Thanks all. Excited to share! And no worries. Lots of great, diverse characters on Themyscira. This is Diana's direct family. More soon!!
