The Director's Cut of 'Batman v Superman' Looks Like It Will Be over 3 Hours Long

We already know that Batman V Superman is going to be really long – over two and half hours. We also know that there’s going to be an extended, R rated ‘Ultimate Cut’ on DVD. But we didn’t realise just how damn long that longer version will be.

Zack Snyder was interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter, and had this to say about the extended version:

[The DVD version] is a half-hour longer, and some of that additional material is some of the stuff we took out for the rating. I was like, "Cool, I can put it back in for the director's cut." There was nothing by design. This was the material I just put back in, and then when [the MPAA] looked at it again, they were like, "Oh, now the movie's rated R." And, by the way, it's not a hard R. There's no nudity. There's a little bit of violence. It just tips the scale.

Half an hour of extra footage? With the theatrical cut confirmed to be 151 minutes long, the extra half hour would put the run-time of the DVD version at just over three hours. That’s really long. Butt-numbingly long. Then again, the film does have to introduce Batman, Lex Luthor, Doomsday, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman, set up the Justice League, and also Jena Malone’s Barbara Gordon, who has been cut out of the cinema version. Is three hours long enough for all that?
