Martin Lawrence dropped a hell of a Throwback Thursday post onto the Internet this week—photographic proof, he says, that he was dabbing way before Cam Newton, Wiz Khalifa, or Stevie Wonder were doing it. And definitely decades before Jay-Z was failing at it

The comedian shared the photo to Instagram on Thursday afternoon with the message, "Y'all wanna keep this shit all the way real. Marty Mar was the first one to #dab on Em!! #tbt." The photo quickly racked up more than 20,000 likes.

As Uproxx pointed out, the photo shows Lawrence hanging out with the cast of the 1990 classic House Party (Christopher "Kid" Reid's high-toppiest-of-all-time high top is unmistakable), and even if this was taken around the time of House Party 2, it's still at least 25 years old.

The craziest part might be that it's not even the first time that Lawrence invented a dance craze more than a decade before it became popular. As anyone who watches a lot of syndicated Martin reruns knows, dude was doing the Stanky Leg to impress his sitcom girlfriend Gina at least 10 years before GS Boyz's "Stanky Legg" came out

As we already knew, there's nothing new under the sun. Don't be surprised if an archeologist finds a painting of a pharaoh dabbing on the wall of an Egyptian tomb real soon.
