There's no doubt 2015 was a groundbreaking year for gaming, with developers putting the processing power of the PS4 and the Xbox One to work to create big, beautiful games. But believe it or not, 2016 is shaping up to be even bigger, and some of the most exciting new releases will be in the realm of first-person shooter games. We already know that Doom will be making its way to the top of our to-play piles, but Gameranx listed nine more FPS games that are worth getting worked up about in the coming year.

One, of course, is a new Call of Duty game from Infinity Ward, which is COD's original developer—Todd Alderman, who left Infinity Ward for five years, is back on board for this project, so it'll be interesting to see what fresh ideas he and his team come up with for the tried-and-true series. Another is Shadow Warrior 2, which looks amazing. As Gameranx points out, it might finally strike the perfect balance between swordplay and shooter options, and it's set in Japan, which is highly unusual for a FPS game; they're usually set in America, Germany, or space. Dishonored 2 is coming out, although we're not sure when, and it looks much like the first Dishonored game but with higher stakes and cooler powers. And Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, which will be out in August, continues the story of Adam Jensen—one of the more popular narratives of the series.

Check out the above video for a complete list of FPS games to get excited about this year.
