If John Hughes' '80s flicksSixteen Candles or The Breakfast Club weren't your favorite (because you don’t like Molly Ringwald, or some other reason) then Ferris Bueller's Day Off may have been your Hughes classic. Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) plays high school hero as he achieves what many of us have tried and miserably failed to do: skip school and take the day off with friends. Originally released June 11, 1986, Ferris Bueller's Day Off celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and to celebrate the milestone a festival is happening which will include a tour of the film's famous locations, including Cameron's very real glass house.
Ferris Fest: A 30th Anniversary Leisure Weekend will be a Friday through Sunday event that will be hosted in none other than Chicago where Ferris and friends go on escapades reports Entertainment Weekly. The festival, which has been cooking up for a couple of months now (as evidenced by its official Instagram), just blew up. Fans will have to buy tickets for the festival which will include a screening of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, in addition to a tour of the film's locations and a recreation of Ferris' room (pictured below).
The best part is the festival will recreate the film's memorable parade sequence. A Q & A with cast members is also planned. Ferris fans can clear their schedule—and skip school—for Ferris Fest May 20-22.
