Hallam teen Sevdet Ramadan Besim, 19, has been accused of plotting an Anzac Day terror attack in Melbourne that was set to involve a plan to run over, then behead a police officer. Much more unusually however, it was also alleged that Mr Besim was discussing strapping a kangaroo with explosives, painting it with an Islamic State symbol and using it to attack police officers.

Mr Besim plead not guilty to charges laid against him, which related to allegedly preparing for a terrorist act, and using internet searches, memos and communications to do so.

Mr Besim was reported to have made some incriminating statements during his online communications. Phrases in question included that fact that he’d "love to take out some cops," that he was "ready to fight these dogs on there [sic] doorstep" and that he wanted to meet with police and “take some heads ahaha".

Mr Besim was caught after a sting in Melbourne’s south-east, with five teens arrested and a variety of weapons confiscated, and will face a directions hearing next week.
