While some of us diehard Twin Peaks fans may have been a little skeptical about the revival at first, it seems like things are really coming together. Earlier this month it was announced that Sherilyn Fenn would reprise her role as Audrey Horne in David Lynch's and Mark Frost's Showtime reboot, and now it's been revealed that longtime Lynch collaborator Laura Dern will also appear on the show.

Dern, who first worked with Lynch on Blue Velvet, later appeared in the auteur's Wild at Heart before starring in his last feature, 2006's surreal noir Inland Empire. In addition to working with Lynch, Dern is no stranger to TV work. She led the criminally underrated and under-seen Enlightened and is now set to star in Big Little Lies, another HBO comedy, alongside her Wild costar Reese Witherspoon.

It's a mystery what Dern's role in the revival will be, but rumors point to her appearing as Diane, the never-seen woman Agent Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) speaks to in his voice memos. Honestly, we'll see her do whatever as long as she gets plenty of screen time.

Twin Peaks will air on Showtime sometime in 2017. In addition to MacLachlan and Fenn, many of the original cast members will return in some capacity. Other stars joining the cast include Amanda Seyfried and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
