A world record speedrun for Fallout 3 set a week ago has been broken. A speedrun is when a player tries to complete a game (or a designated part of it) as quickly as possible, sometimes by taking advantage of game glitches as seen in the following run. The 15-minute speedrun completion time for Fallout 3 has been beat by a speedrunner in a mere 14:54.71—and the speedrunner still thinks that time could be shaved off of that! Check out how the carefully calculated awesome run happened below.

The new world record belongs to Rydou, Polygonreports, who uploaded the run on YouTube even providing commentary on specific strategies used should anyone be crazy enough to attempt such a feat. Rydou accomplished the run with the help of many glitches. Here's two main components that helped Rydou's overall run. First off there's quick saving and reloading where a player can skip through dialogue sequences and also walk through solid objects. Then there’s a glitch where you can achieve a 60 percent increase in your speed, allowing you to walk at 160 percent. Rydou writes: "When you cripple your legs, your speed is set to 0, then bring back to 60% of your normal speed. By quickloading just before getting crippled, you can confuse the game into giving you 60% without actually being put to 0 (because we don't actually really get crippled). So you get a huge speedboost, and walk at 160% of your normal speed." Rydou added: "This speedboost can appear in two versions: One which is "breakable", it will last as long as you don't quickload again. The second one is "unbreakable", you can quickload or load a game without losing it."

Speedrun records for other Fallout games include a 1:07:28 run for Fallout 4 and a 20:33 run for Fallout: New Vegas
