The wheels are definitely (and finally) in motion for the troubled Tupac biopic All Eyez on Me, with a new director hopping aboard shortly before casting Demetrius Shipp Jr.as the late legend. Just days after that news, we now have our first proper look at Shipp on the set of the long overdue production alongside a very familiar face:

That is indeed Jamal Woolard, the star of the 2009 Notorious B.I.G. biopic Notorious. Woolard will reprise his role as Biggie in All Eyez on Me after remaining the "top choice" among producers since the project started gaining traction, according to TMZ.

Though Woolard received a fair amount of praise for his portrayal of Christopher Wallace in Notorious, the film itself failed to win over critics and audiences alike, with a current Rotten Tomatoes average that's admittedly less than stellar. However, given the critical and commercial success of F. Gary Gray's Straight Outta Compton, perhaps Hollywood's inspired focus on crafting worthwhile hip-hop biopics will finally produce a fitting tribute to both artists in All Eyez on Me.
