When Nicki Minaj announced that she was gifting the planet with an ABC Family comedy series based on her life back in September, all life on this earth got understandably stoked. However, aside from the fact that the series would soon start to exist, immediate details were frustratingly scarce. On Friday, Minaj took to the 'gram to reveal that she had "literally handpicked" Nicki's cast, including top-shelf choices in Ariana Neal (Fruitvale Station)and Whoopi Goldberg:

Minaj, who will serve as executive producer and is also set to appear, also made a point to express more specific excitement regarding the casting of Neal. "I literally cried watching her taped audition," Minaj wrote. "I demanded to meet her! Sat in a room with her teaching her how to rap by doing a beat on the table [and] forcing her to stay on beat!"

"This is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on,” Minaj told Deadline when the series was first announced. "I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special." The series will center on Minaj’s early life in Queens in the 90s, charting the "personal and musical evolution" that inspired her stellar career as one of the globe’s leading multi-hyphenates. Nicki is set to debut in 2016.
