Michael Fassbender Hadn't Played 'Assassin's Creed' Before Signing Onto 'Assassin's Creed' Movie

Michael Fassbender didn't play 'Assassin's Creed' before being cast in 'Assasin's Creed.'

While Jake Gyllenhaal's Prince of Persia wasn't exactly the bestvideo game adaptation to make its way to theaters, hopefully things will go better for Michael Fassbender in the upcoming Assassin's Creed film—even if he never played the popular video game before signing onto the film.

Although not an OG fan, Fassbender spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the video game and film, which will be released to theaters in December 2016. Fortunately, after snagging the role he did some research.

"I’ve played it since [being offered the job] mainly to get an idea of the physicality of the character," Fassbender told the outlet from Spain, where he was filming the adaptation. "We’re striving to find something special. We believe the whole concept around it is special and want to service that the best we can. The fans are really passionate: very specific and they expect accuracy and historical detail. We’re really trying to capitalize and feed on and enjoy the fun element. We’re working hard to make this something special."

The film, which follows a man who discovers his ancestor was an assassin in 15th Century Spain will be directed Justin Kurzelwho just worked with Fassbinder on Macbeth. Assassin's Creed will also star Marion Cotillard (also in Macbeth), Michael K. Williams, Jeremy Irons, and Brendan Gleeson

Apparently, we also have Fassbender doing his own stunts to look forward to.

"I’ve learned how to roly poly, tumble turn," the Oscar-nominated actor said. "Stuff you can do in everyday life. Like cartwheels. No—just basic fight choreography stuff. I did some horse stuff today. So stuff like that."

I want to see him doing cartwheels more than anything.
