Richard Linklater is taking a quick break from making nearly perfect movies that take 12 years to finish to deliver Everybody Wants Some, a 1980s-based philosophical romp that's a so-called spiritual sequel to his 1993 cult classic Dazed and Confused. The film stars Blake Jenner, Wyatt Russell, Zoey Deutch, and Ryan Guzman as well-dressed young people careening through the difficulties of growing up against the backdrop of college baseball. As should be expected, Everybody Wants Some is set in Texas but, like, cool Texas. Not this Texas.
Dazed and Confused's cinematic companion is set to debut in March as SXSW's opening night presentation, Variety reports. For the uninitiated, the film's title is notably borrowed from the Van Halen song of the same name, a song which is sadly not exactly a banger:
Hey, Linklater. Where's Boyhood 2?
