After a slew of politicians and public figures panned Donald Trump for his proposal to temporarily ban Muslins from entering the country and the White House deemed him unfit to serve as president, the Republican hopeful is now claiming that he is acting in best interest of the Islamic community.

In an interview with Don Lemon for CNN Tonight, the controversial figure defended his comments by saying that his Muslim friends agree with him. "I'm doing good for the Muslims," he told Lemon. "Many Muslim friends of mine are in agreement with me. They say, 'Donald, you brought something up to the fore that is so brilliant and so fantastic.'"

But who are these people lauding him for his “brilliant” points? He didn’t name anyone but added that among his supporters was "one of the most important people in Middle East.”

Standing by his statements, Trump went on to declare that his immigration plan had been taken out of context and might not last for long. "It could go quickly, but it's a subject that has to be discussed," he said.  He also indicated that there would be exceptions for Muslim athletes and diplomats.
