UPDATE 3:52 p.m.:

School officials have now confirmed that the suspect has been placed in custody. The campus will remain on lockdown "until further notice," with local authorities currently still investigating the scene.

A gunman has been reported on the Arkansas State University campus, according to school officials. The school confirmed an "active shooter" had been reported near the Student Union building, though the most recent update said that police were on the scene and had the unidentified individual surrounded. An evacuation has also been ordered.

The incident reportedly began when the man drove onto campus "and crashed his car," according to WDBJ 7. "Suspect is surrounded by University Police Department and Jonesboro Police," university officials confirmed. No injuries have been reported. The campus, located a little more than 100 miles from Little Rock in Jonesboro, remains on lockdown.
