Soldier Dressed as Suicide Bomber Sends Base Into Emergency Response Mode

Officials at Fort Bragg were not happy.

People take bomb hoaxes very seriously. Just ask Ahmed Mohamed, who was taken into custody after a teacher thought his experimental clock looked like an explosive device. So a soldier dressing up as a suicide bomber for Halloween really should know better.

ABC 11 reports that on Friday, officials at an access control checkpoint in Fort Bragg, North Carolina put the area in emergency mode when one soldier donned the irresponsible getup for the occasion and tried to enter the premises. The gate was closed for a period and the area was evacuated. After realizing that the threat was not real, officials released a statement on the situation.

"The Fort Bragg Garrison Commander wants the community to have a safe and fun Halloween; however costumes of this sort are not allowed on Fort Bragg," it read. "All costumes should be appropriate in dress and tasteful."

The memo went on to say that soldiers, families and civilian government employees should not dress in distasteful costumes away from post, either. Ditto.
