Actress Noomi Rapace is apparently in talks to play Amy Winehouse in an upcoming biopic about the talented, but troubled, singer.

The Swedish actress, best known for her roles in Prometheus and the original film adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, is being touted for the role of Camden’s favourite daughter with Kristen Sheridan, known for directing August Rush, set to direct from a script she has already written.

In a report by Variety, Sheridan explains that:

“Amy’s music is felt so deeply by the audience because it was deeply personal. Her vulnerability was her strength. She was called many things — a diva, a lost soul preyed upon by tabloids, a tortured genius; our aim is an innovative, emotional and life-affirming approach as we go through the looking glass into her life and art.”

This announcement comes of the heels of Asif Kaadia’s critically acclaimed documentary Amy, an intimate portrait into the life Winehouse which drew criticism from her father, Mitch.

Rapace is generally a good actress and she seems like a very good choice for this upcoming project, however we hope that she can also match Winehouse's vocal talent that made the Back To Black singer so unique and loved.
