Movies based on video games are usually pants and that’s not opinion, it's fact. That is unless it's directed or overseen by someone who actually enjoys video games which is the case with this awesome Metroid short-film.
Metroid: The Sky Calls, a non-profit film – that is totally not endorsed by Nintendo sees everyone’s favourite nerd goddess, Jessica Chobot, playing the role of the iconic Samus Aran.
Directed by Sam Balcomb this 11-minute short shows that you can make good video game movies… just don’t let Uwe Boll get his filthy little hands on it, ergh. Instead of taking an all-out-action approach, which would've been so obvious, Balcomb decided to give the popular Nintendo franchise a classic 60’s/70’s sci-fi tone to it which is totally refreshing.
