Local authorities have confirmed that one person was killed and three others wounded in a shooting at Tennessee State University late Thursday evening, with the suspect reportedly still at large after fleeing on foot. Metropolitan Nashville Police spokesperson Don Aarontells the Associated Press the shooting occurred "around 10:50 p.m. amid an argument over a dice game," though such details were not made immediately available when the shooting was first reported.
Aaron also revealed that the 19-year-old male who was fatally wounded during the shooting was involved in the argument, though the three wounded female students were reportedly just passing by during the incident. Both the gunman and the deceased victim are not believed to be students enrolled at TSU, according to university spokesperson Kelli Sharpe. One student was grazed and required no immediate medical attention, while two others were quickly taken to a nearby hospital with gunshot-related injuries. As of Friday morning, one victim has been released and the other is reported as "in stable condition," according to Fox News.
The shooting comes roughly a week after three people were wounded in a shooting at an off-campus party just across the street from the TSU campus, the AP notes. Authorities are asking that anyone with footage or further information please come forward before sharing such knowledge elsewhere, adding that they have already obtained "some video."
