Northern Territory Police Seize Boat Carrying Absurd Amount Of VB

The boat was confiscated for violating NT's Liquor Act.

In a move that's sure to outrage Australians everywhere, police in the Northern Territory recently seized a boat carrying 330 cans of Victoria Bitter and four litres of spirits in the Tiwi Islands.  Caught on Tuesday morning, five people were arrested and charged with a number of offenses including bringing alcohol into a restricted area.

The 6 metre vessel, as well as a Toyota Landcruiser were seized under the Liquor Act, which restricts alcohol from entering certain spots in an effort to reduce alcohol-related harm. Superintendent Daniel Shean said that police take breaches of this act seriously.

“[We] will take appropriate action such as these arrests and vehicle and vessel seizures today, to reduce alcohol related harm and promote a safe community,” he said. While the law is the law, and it was completely fair enough to book the gang for their indiscretion, you can't really blame these guys for trying – it actually looks like a dope way to spend an afternoon.
