Cathriona White, the on-again off-again girlfriend of Jim Carrey and Irish makeup artist who died of an apparent suicide last week, was reportedly married to another man at the time of her death. White's body will now be released to her husband, whose name has not been revealed, for repatriation to her homeland of Ireland. "She had a husband, we have a husband as next of kin," said the Medical Examiner’s official, "We’re not releasing any more information on next of kin, but we do have her as married."
"There is no way that Jim would have taken her out to public places if he thought she was married," a "well-placed source" close to Carrey's family tells the Hollywood Reporter. "As far as Jim was concerned, Cat was separated from her husband and was going to start divorce proceedings in December. When people are separated they date or do whatever they need to do."
Members of White's family recently flew in from Ireland to meet with Carrey, who was reportedly devastated. Results of an autopsy on White are expected to be revealed in eight to twelve weeks. "It came in as a suicide," the Medical Examiner's office said, "but we're not noting it as such yet until we can confirm what was in her system."
