When Lance Armstrong admitted his use of performance-enhancing drugs to Oprah Winfrey in a dramatic 2013 interview, the public opinion on the famed cyclistquickly shifted from "Wow! This guy is CRAZY good!" to "Wow! This guy IS CRAZY." before finally arriving at or somewhere very near a giant "Meth kills!" billboard.

To fully embody the deceptive though undeniably charismatic spirit of the Livestrong wristband pusher, actor Ben Foster chose to bend his own reality by diving right into the potentially dark world of performance-enhancing drugs. "I don't want to talk about the names of the drugs I took," Foster tells the Guardian. "Even discussing it feels tricky because it isn't something I'd recommend to fellow actors. These are very serious chemicals and they affect your body in real ways. For my own investigation it was important for me to privately understand it. And they work."

Directed by High Fidelity's Stephen Frears, The Program also stars Chris O'DowdGuillaume Canet, Lee Pace, Edward Hogg, and Elaine Cassidy. The film will celebrate its world premiere on September 13 as part of the Toronto International Film Festival.
