Cathriona White, Jim Carrey's on-again / off-again girlfriend since 2012, has reportedly committed suicide. When two of her friends went to check on her at a residence in Los Angeles, they are believed to have found her unresponsive. After notifying the Los Angeles Police Department, local authorities confirmed her passing and also discovered an apparent suicide note.

White and Carrey apparently ended their relationship just days ago, as referenced in the supposed suicide note reported by TMZ. On September 24, White tweeted that she was "signing off Twitter" and that she hoped she had been "a light to my nearest and dearest." White, just 28 years young, was an Irish make-up artist. According to the Daily Mail, White completed her Leaving Certificate at the Convent of Mercy before studying beauty and complementary therapies at Limerick College of Further Education. Though she quickly found work as a beautician, she ultimately decided to move to America in 2009.

Shortly after news of her passing, Jim Carrey released the following statement to ET:

I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her.

Rest in peace, Cathriona.
