All good things must come to an end and, soon, Hugh Jackman will be hanging up his claws for good. The Aussie’s final go at Wolverine will occur in the mutant’s third spin-off movie in 2017 and there’s already whispers of a possible replacement once he vacates the role.

When asked about a successor, the actor told MTV News, “I think Tom Hardy would be a great Wolverine. He is younger than me for sure.” Well, he is 46 and Hardy just turned 38.  However, Hardy might have his hands full if he is chosen to be the next Bond. People are already placing their bets.

And don’t count Jackman out just yet. He is still set to play Wolverine next year in X-Men: Apocalypse before bowing out in Wolverine 3, which will also see Patrick Stewart as Professor X. With both films not too far away, he admits he gets asked a lot about who will take over the role but he “hasn’t really given it a lot of thought.”

He added, “I’m always like, ‘I don’t wanna make it too easy on the studio to replace me,’ you know? I’ve still got one more [film] to do. I’m sure they’re already talking about it, and there’s some actor [they’ve told] ‘Shh, keep it quiet but we want you next.'”
