People will show up to music festivals by the tens of thousands to hear EDM DJs spin, but they will not show up to see Zac Efron pretend to be an EDM DJ "trying to make it" in a movie — at all.

We Are Your Friends, which debuted in theaters this week, has set a box office record — for flopping.

The film, which also stars Emily Ratajkowski, had the worst opening weekend ever for a Hollywood studio movie released in at least 2,000 theaters, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie made $1.8 million total, which when a movie is showing on that many screens is probably how much you'd make from people who somehow accidentally bought tickets to the wrong movie.

We Are Your Friends was No. 12 overall at the box office. Among the movies that beat it this weekend were Jurassic World, which has been out for almost three months now, and War Room, a faith-based drama which had zero national advertising.
