Though its pilot initially leaked back in May, Supergirl's first (legal) debut took place during Wednesday night's Comic-Con kickoff. The overwhelming consensus among those in attendance seems to point to a certified slaying from the CBS series — with particular praise reigning down upon star Melissa Benoist from the instant reaction gods of Twitter:
Colliderechoed these sentiments, saying "this coming-of-age action-drama pulls no punches when it comes to the emotional side of human/Kryptonian relationships." Shortly before the Comic-Con premiere, CBS unleashed a new teaser (see above) — decidedly heavy on matters of action.
If you're wondering how often Supergirl's relatively popular cousin will appear on the series, look no further than the Julia-Louis Dreyfus gem Veep — which reportedly served as an inspiration for Supergirl. "Our prototype is the way the president is seen on Veep," executive producer Ali Adlersaid in a recent interview. "Ultimately, this is a show about Supergirl and we really want to see it through her lens."
