After decades of heated speculation, the rumors and theories surrounding the death of infamous mobster Tommy DeSimone can finally come to a close. According to information unveiled in the forthcoming book The Lufthansa Heist, the Goodfellas subject was killed by none other than the equally mob-famous John Gotti.

Gotti reportedly killed DeSimone with three shots to the skull from a silencer-equipped Colt .38 in January of 1979. According to the New York Post, the murder took place in the basement of an Italian restaurant on Arthur Avenue in The Bronx. Steve Hill, one of the writers behind The Lufthansa Heist, claims he heard the specifics from Sal Polisi — a close friend of Gotti's he met within the Witness Protection Program.

Portrayed by Joe Pesci in the 1990 Martin ScorseseclassicGoodfellas, DeSimone's legend continued to grow — creating a mystique around the details of his death, a mystique now effectively dismantled. Having just celebrated its 25th anniversary, the Goodfellas promo campaign is still very clearly a force with which to be reckoned.
