No one can hear you scream in space—or make a video blog, or plant crops, or any of the number of things that Matt Damon does to keep himself alive when he finds himself stranded on Mars in the trailer for The Martian

The Martian, based on the book by the same name, tells the story of Mark Watney, an astronaut who has to fend for himself when he's left behind by his teammates on a NASA mission to Mars. The trailer, which comes the day after the first promo was released, gives us a little more plot detail: Watney only has supplies to last 30 days, but he must hang on much longer than that (possibly four years) before his fellows astronauts on Earth might receive his video messages and come back for him. Eventually—does this count as a spoiler so early on in the movie's promotional cycle?—his team does get his messages and must decide whether or not to return to Mars against NASA's wishes.

The trailer has its—ahem—more ridiculous moments, though, like when Damon tells the camera, "I'm gonna have to science the shit out of this," or any of the number of times we see an awestruck Kristen Wiig wringing her hands. But the cast looks incredible—Wiig, Jessica Chastain, Michael Peña, Kate Mara, Sebastian Stan, Donald Glover, and Chiwetel Ejiofor all star in the sci-fi thriller, directed by Ridley Scott

The Martian hits theaters November 2015. Watch the trailer above.
