'Jurassic World' Snags Another Box Office Record, Breaks Pixar Streak

"Jurassic World" snagged another box office record this weekend when it made $102 million.

Like a giant dinosaur violently eating another, slightly smaller dinosaur, Jurassic World ruled the box office for a second-straight weekend, adding $102 million to its domestic total, Varietyreports.

Inside Out was No. 2 with $91 million, which is really, really good, but not good enough to keep the 20-year streak of Pixar movies debuting at No. 1 alive. Even though the opening is the second-best for a Pixar movie ever, all of the other 14 Pixar films, stretching back to Toy Story in 1995, debuted in the top spot.

Jurassic World also became only the second movie ever to bring in $100 million at the U.S. box office in two separate weekends, and its global total is now over $950 million.

Believe it or not, there were other movies in theaters this weekend.

Dope debuted to critical acclaim, but only $6 million in its opening weekend, to land in fifth place.

No. 4 (Spy) and No. 5 (San Andreas) were both holdovers from last week.
