As promised, Bruce Jenner has made her first appearance as a woman on the cover of Vanity Fair, which was photographed by Annie Leibovitz. In the cover shot, Jenner introduces herself: "Call me Caitlyn."

In the accompanying story in the magazine's July issue, Jenner talks to Buzz Bissinger, writer of the acclaimed Friday Night Lights, about why she decided to transition, noting the immense regret she would have felt had she lived her entire life without making a change. "If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life.​'"

Shortly after the cover was released, Jenner tweeted about it from a brand new Twitter account:

Jenner officially announced her transition in an exclusive interview with Diane Sawyer in April. The former Olympian expressed how she had felt like she was living in someone else's body for her entire life, and also how she hoped that her going public with her transition would help trans people everywhere. "We're going to change the world," Jenner said.

During that special, Sawyer reported that Jenner requested to still be identified with male pronouns, and frequently referred to his new identity as "her." With this cover, it seems as those two ideas have merged, as Jenner now has a new name, Caitlyn, and the story itself refers to Jenner as with female pronouns.

The full issue hits newsstands on June 9. Along with the cover, Vanity Fair also released a behind-the-scenes video of Jenner's shoot with Leibovitz. Check it out below:
