Authorities in Spain announced yesterday that they took three people into custody after seizing over 400 pounds of cocaine that was hidden inside of pineapples.

According to the Associated Press, a shipment arrived at the southern point of Algeciras. Inside of 11 containers, police found 441 pounds of the drug hidden in yellow wax that was stashed inside of the hollowed-out fruit. The New york Daily News reports that the shipment came from Central America:

The ship arrived from Central America, the statement said.

The pineapples were addressed to one company in Madrid and another in Sant Quirze del Valles, near Barcelona.

The investigation of the Central America-to-Spain, cocaine-in-pineapples case continues, police said.

Both businesses were said to be run by Spanish nationals of Colombian origin.

The Associated Press says that two of the three suspects own fruit-importing businesses in Madrid and Colombia.
