Three Arrested After Two Cops Are Fatally Shot in Mississippi

Authorities in Mississippi have arrested three people in connection with the shooting deaths of two police officers, authorities say. 

According to the New York Times, Hattiesburg police officers Liquori Tate and Benjamin Deen were shot last night in Hattiesburg, Miss. The Times adds that Tate, 25, and Deen, 34, died after being transported to Forrest General Hospital. Furthermore, the Times reports that three suspects have been taken into custody: 


The Mississippi Department of Public Safety announced on Sunday that Marvin Banks, 29, and Joanie Calloway, 22, have each been charged with two counts of capital murder, and Mr. Banks’s brother, Curtis Banks, 26, has been charged with two counts of accessory after the fact of capital murder.

Per the Times, each of the suspects are currently being held at the county jail, and will appear in court on Monday.
